Visually check each sample for vibrant yellow colour, indicating presence of coliform bacteria.
Examine for bright blue fluorescence using long wavelength UV lamp (365 nm), indicating presence of E. coli bacteria.
How it works
- Aseptically add Colitag media to 100 mL water sample
- No pre-warming needed: Incubate for 24-48 hours at 35 ± 0.5°C**
- Visually check sample for yellow colour
- Yellow colour: Positive for total coliforms
- Illuminate with UV lamp
- Fluorescence: Positive for E. coli
**Pre-warm at 44.5°C for 7 – 10 mins: Incubate for 16 – 24 hours at 35 ± 0.5°C
